He earned his bachelor's degree from High Point University. After graduating, he attended Law School at Regent University and graduated in 2002.

Freeman joined the Rockingham County District Attorney's office in 2007. He spent the next seven years as an assistant district attorney, overseeing and prosecuting cases and fighting for justice in the communities of Rockingham and Caswell counties.

He ran for District Court Judge in 2014 and won, defeating an incumbent in the office.

"For the last 17 years, I've been honored to serve the people of Rockingham and Caswell Counties as a District Court Judge and Assistant District Attorney. I aim to bring my steadfast commitment to conservative judicial philosophy to the appellate court level, serving all North Carolinians," Freeman said when he announced his run for Court of Appeals.

Freeman won the March 5 primary for Court of Appeals with 63% of the vote.
